6.2 Ford Raptor Tuner Basics

Though it is no longer in production, Ford produced the 6.2 Boss from 2010–2022. It is a 6.2 liter V8 engine that is naturally aspirated from the factory. The valve train uses a simple single overhead camshaft (SOHC) design with 16-valves total. Depending on the model and year, the Boss V8 pumps out 385-411 horsepower and 405-434 lb-ft of torque.

Livernois includes their proprietary MyCalibrator tuning device, which allows you to seamlessly switch between the two tunes for whatever the occasion calls for. They also modify the shift logic and shift points, which is extremely beneficial when hauling in 4th gear or higher where the factory logic struggles.

You can also pick out different octane levels, ranging from a low of 85 for mountain customers to a high of 93. 

A benefit of 5 Star tuning is that they offer their tuning services on a wide variety of tuner platforms. They have HP Tuners, the SCT X4 handheld, SCT Livewire handheld, and the Bully Dog handheld devices as options. This means you can pick whichever device you are most comfortable with and use that for your tune. Five Star tuning also offers custom tuning, which means they will tailor your tune to fit your specific vehicle, environmental conditions, fuel quality, and other mods. They are a very popular name in the Ford community, and their tunes deliver solid gains and economy. 

3) JDM Engineering 6.2 Ford Raptor Tuning

Our third recommendation is JDM Engineering Raptor tuning. JDM Engineering only works with the SVT Raptor platform with the Ford 6.2, and does not offer Supty Duty tuning. Our final recommendation is Unleashed Tuning for the Raptor. Like JDM Engineering, Unleashed Tuning works exclusively with the SVT Raptor for the Ford 6.2. They offer custom tuning for the Raptor, which they optimize for your specific vehicle and conditions. Unleashed might not be as well known as some of our other choices, but they have a solid reputation for delivering outstanding tunes and having great customer service.

Unleashed uses SCT devices, the Livewire or X4, for their handheld tuning device. They charge $250 for the first tune, and another $50 for any supplemental maps. A benefit of Unleashed Tuning is that they work to make their tunes emissions compliant, so if you live in an area with stricter emissions it might be one of your better SVT Raptor tuning options.
